can n e 1 help me? i whiped out my hard drive and now i am reinstalling Xp but after post all it says is dat is missing and OS it won't boot from da CDROM evean thou is set to in CMOS

i had a 40 gig hard drive with Xp pro already installed.i resantly backed up all my file and folders and poped in an Xp CD now wen it passed POST It says missing OS with the CD inside alreday tried multiply cd why won't it boot

Are you sure your XP CD is bootable? If you can access the internet, you can download an XP booting programme from MS. I think it fits on six floppies.
