As with most things, make a restore point, hit the program and run/install it - following the on-screen instructions.

Hi, The best way would probably be through Media Player itself (go to Help from Media Player then Check for player updates...). If it fails, download Media Player 10 itselft from it's website and run the installation. Still, both ways aren't foolproof (I had troubles upgrading myself) so it's best you also take TonyW's advide and make a restore point. But System Restore has been known to cause problems more than fix them so you might want to try ERUNT (Emergency Recovery Utility NT) by Lars Hederer. Just run the small program with it's default settings (as recommended in ERUNT's 'readme') to make a registry backup. If anything goes wrong, just run the 'ERDNT.EXE' file in the ERDNT folder in the Windows folder (or any any folder you specified ERUNT to backup to) to restore your registry to the backed-up one. Good luck! ;) The Rookie. - don't worry, ERUNT doesn't contain malware. It's just a decent program written by a nice guy who gave it to the world for free. I use it to make autobackups at my pc's startup and it has saved my life quite a few times (more like my pc's life). And some people here may recommend backing up your entire hard drive (using special software) but it's gonna take up gigs of hd space and maybe even another hd if you want it to be 'REALLY' useful (in case your current hd fails). Good luck! ;)
