Cant Factory Install?

External Hard-Drive.
I have an Systemax Desktop,256 memory,1.4ghz,Xp Home.
I need to do a Factory Restore off of there Disks 1 &2,as I did 1 time before,
I dont have any sound,I have about 5 new hardware windows popping up after I installed
a Printer,and some odd things happen on my Computor.
this all started after a few downloads I did,which I dont remember.
I never had this problem untill a Window came up one day after starting my Computor,saying,Hardware
Profile configuration menu,I have to wait 30 secounds before it goes away then PC
boots into operating system.
What can I do to get rid of this window so my Factory Restore Disks work properly??????????????????????/.
I tryed everything I can think of over 2 weeks. Confused

Can I bachup my c-Drive into an external hard drive,pluged into my usb on XP Home
Desktop PC.
By clicking on C-Drive,drag & drop or from instructions in External drive,then reverse
procedure,if I have to re-format c-drive?

The only ones you can drag and drop are data files, anything else, such as programs
that you have installed, will need to be reinstalled after you have reinstalled your
XP. Incidentally, to save yourself a new activation of XP on line, follow the procedure
as outlined here
