Game intro movies dont have sound, and some games dont have sound at all

Hi, This is a really weird annoyance that I am sure is down to something ebing wrong with the Audio filters on my system. Everything was working fine until I uninstalled Winamp 5 - since then, some game splash intros and intro movies dont have any sound, and some games dont have any sound at all! A few examples: The recent Bad Day in LA demo doesnt playback any sound in any of the splash intros or the game intro/trailer tiself, but once I get TO the game, music and sound effects are all present. Other games, like Oblivion, and Battlefield 2 work just fine with sound in Splash intros AND the game. Then, in two other cases, in Call of Cuthulu: Dark Corners of the Earth and Flatout 2 more recently, there is no sound AT ALL either in the game or in the intros. IVe tried reinstalling winamp, installing new AC3 drivers, and I really dont know what can be causing this as under XP all movies and mp3s and OGG files and whatever uses sound is just fine. I incidentally use an Audigy 2 ZX Soundcard. Drivers are also up to date, as is DirectX. Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!
