Product key and WinXP

i have an original Boxed WINXP, to which i purchased 2 more keys through MS's website
apparently i can have 5 total purchased.
i have 3 PC's, and only know 1 of the keys associated to 1 of my pc's...
Is there any place, similar to Win2k, where i can find/identify the product key in
non-algorithmic text? I would imagine its in the registry files somewhere, after
all found where my registered owner information is kept so i cant be that far off
base here...
I am leery of downloading any files that convert/find this information, but i will
at last resort before i reformat for security purposes...
many thanks
me :)

I'm not sure that you can view it without a second party app. Here a good one that
is safe to use.

Try running the MGADiag utility from Microsoft:
http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?linkid=52012
It does not reveal the entire Product Key, but it does show the last three groups
of the five groups which should be sufficient if you just want to match up a Product
Key for XP to a given computer.
The utility will also check and verify that your installation is Genuine or not---info
that may interest you because the tone of your post tells me that you are interested
in using genuine software.
And it will also tell you if your Office installation (if any) is Genuine. Look
for "Office Status: xxx" where xxx is a three digit number. "114" means nongenuine,
"100" means Genuine, other numbers mean something but so far that hasn't been made
clear.

key goes to which PC :)
in the meantime, i went to barnes and noble and snooped through their PC books, apparently
magicaljellybean is a reputable 3rdparty app seeing as it was mentioned 3 of the
5 books i browsed...
but thanks for the quick and informative replies gents..
have a great one!

You're welcome!
MJB is a useful and IMO safe tool to use....I use it myself sometimes.
Good Luck!
