Goes into standby without being asked

This may be coincidental. But it seems that it started happening after I installed
Printmaster 17. The computer goes into standby if I stop using it for even just
a minute. I've uninstalled PM 17. But it is still happening. Thanks for any words
of wisdom. I really appreciate the expertise of the folks on this forum. Jody

I would check in your control panel under power settings and find out if those settings
have somehow been altered, it sounds like the time setting for standby has been set
real low.....

Thanks, Mark. I forgot to mention that I have it set on "never go into standby".

Things to try:
1. Double check your BIOS power settings.
2. System Restore back before the problem.
3. Set xp standby to an arbitrary time. Re-boot. Re-set xp standby to "never..."
and Re-boot.

If you have a newer keyboard (lots of "quickLaunch" buttons), try to borrow a cheap,
standard keyboard. One of those buttons may be set for standby and stuck. Media Center
PC's also have a standby button on the remote so remove the batteries.
If that does not work, I would next try replacing the Advanced Power Management (APM)
drivers. You MUST have an xp setup disc for this!
Begin by creating a restore point. You might also want to back up your registry using
ERUNT:

The following article does not discuss your situation, so under the RESOLUTION heading,
stop at step 6. This should fully restore any corrupt APM drivers.
