Installing program probelms

Recently I got my computer fixed and the tech installed a new and free antivirus
program (AVAST). I have tried to reinstall my printer and the computer will not let
me install it. It is a lexmark z22 and I have talked to lexmark numerous times and
none of the conservations have been successful.
I am also experiencing the same probelm when trying to install a digitial camera.
I would call the dig camera company but there is no 1-800 number or any contact info
for them (the cam was a xmas present).
Does anyone know what is wrong with my computer? I have win XP, and a lexmark Z22
printer.
Thank you in advance.

When you say won't let you install - what exactly happens?
btw - this computer fix - did it involve wiping the machine? Does your user now have
administrator rights?

It won't let me install the program onto the computer. It says the file is corrupt.
As for the last question, I have no clue! Sorry.

I don't think the computer was wiped out. I know for a fact, that the power supply
was dead and it was replaced.

He was referring to being logged in as "administrator" or having those rights as
a user to allow installation of programs...if all that is correct, and you try to
install the software and it keeps telling you the file is "corrupt" go to the printer
manufacture website and download a "fresh" version....

I have tried over and over to download the programs from the manufacturer. Hasn't
worked.

If you go to this website and click on "download now" on the first listing, what
happens next ?

Please insert the windows Xp cd in your cd drive (D) then click ok. You can also
click ok to send the files to a alterante location.
I have never been asked for this before when I had to plug my printer in (due to
low ink cartiages).

I put the Windows XP disc in my cd rom and installation went well. My printer is
now hooked up and running. I had the same probelm with my digital cam (old one not
new one) so I fixed that as well too.
Thank you for all of your help, everyone.
