Internet Connection

I've just recently upgraded 5 systems at work from W2000 to XP. One of the systems can't connect to the internet but it does connect to the LAN. This leaves me to believe that the network card is working. I just can't figure out why it won't connect to the internet. I've checked the configuration on the nic and it's set to obtain for the connection as are all the others. Any ideas?

Make sure you check your internet options.. Control Panel -> Internet Options -> Connection tab -> Lan Setup Make sure everything is unchecked, then try accessing the internet. Also, make sure there is no firewall/internet security software getting in the way, things like Norton Internet Security tend to be troublesome with this kind of stuff. Are you using IE? Go to a command prompt and type 'ping yahoo.com' find out what your results are.. Does it get ping replies or not? Maybe it gives a host not found error, which would signal a DNS issue?
