I am running windows xp, it came up with the message that the config file is missing or currupt right after i emptied the recycle bin at the next log in. I have the start up disk for windows to repair it....however it wont load from the disk. Ive tried to reboot in safe mode, last known and safe with command and get nowhere.... How can i get this computer to boot from the Cd to repair itself ?? Thanks for your help!

are you talking about config.sys or some other file? please provide the name, and i don't think it's necessary to repair, but you can use the system file checker.

You need to enter the BIOS to boot from CD. Watch the bottom of the screen when you first switch on it will say something like "press DEL to enter setup" or "F2 for BIOS" Once in here, dont be afraid! Go to Boot and set the first boot device to CDROM. If you do not have a menu for BOOT it may be under Advanced. When you exit from the BIOS Setup, remember to save. Have the cd in the drive and it will attempt to boot from it next time the machine starts.
