i got a HP system that is ready to crap out and needs a complete restore. As with
most HPs, recovery files are in a hidden partition that I cannot access. i've noticed
that there are several venders selling hp recovery discs are varying prices. Has
anyone ever bought recovery discs online? If so, any complaints?

To Bad. Users are suppose to make the Disks after the open the new computer. I have
seen sites that sell Recovey Software. If it is not for the Exact Make and Model
it probably won't work, so it will be a bit of a Gamble unless you can but them directly
from the Manufacture. :)

I took a closer look at the link I posted, and HP has info on ordering the CDs most
the World

The company I work for uses HP for almost anything Wintel related and we've never
had problems buying a recovery disc if needed. Any relatively newer HP should have
them available.

If HP doesn't have the needed recovery CDs, try here:
www.restoredisks.com
I wouldn't buy any kind of so-called recovery CD on e-bay unless the seller absolutely
guarantees that what they are selling is a genuine HP disc that will work for your
exact specific model of HP. Don't just settle for a CD that works on a "Pavilion
D9000" or whatever, because a "D9000" could really emcompass 10, 20, or 30 different
models.
