Windows Installer Issue

I recently got rid of some nasty trojans that crippled my pc for a while, and had to roll back my registry to regain control of the system components. Unfortunately, I've been having this nagging problem any time I try to delete, copy, paste, cut, etc. a file. Windows Installer popped up, asking me for the location of Symantec AntiVirus.msi. I don't have the file. I recently re-installed Symantec, as it was corrupted by one of the trojans. Any ideas as to how I can stop this? Should I turn off the MSI service?

Does this happen when you right-click on a file? I think this might be an issue with a "Context Menu" item in the registry. Cheers. Spexx.

Yes it is, actually. Can you point me in the direction as to how I can change the value?

The Microsoft Autoruns Utility is very useful for finding things like that and enabling/disabling as required. The Explorer tab will list the things you are after and you should find the troublesome entry is fairly obvious. Just un-check the item(s) as required. Hope this helps. Cheers. Spexx.
