Hi all.
On our home computer the are 3 users setup. Myself (administrator) and my 2 kids
have there own profile with their own passwords.
Is there a way to set things up so there is only ONE password that will let you login
to the computer at the welcome Screen? While still letting the kids have their own
individual accounts/profiles.
Basically I want to be the only one who can load windows while thy still have accounts.
Thanks

I'd try a BIOS password. That would be the easiest way to accomplish what you are
tring to do. That will make it so that when you turn on your computer, it will require
a password before even booting. You can accomplish this by going into the security
area of your BIOS. (access to the BIOS is usually the "F1" key or the "DEL" Key.
If you have a Dell, try the "F2" key.
*****Note*****
Make sure not to change anything extra in the BIOS, unless you know what you are
doing, as this is the area that your computer uses to boot, use hardware, and other
things.

Do you want it so only you can turn the pc on? If so, look into a "BIOS password".

My sister has some young children and she is worried about what they see and could
get themselves into on the internet (which is good parenting IMO). They each have
accounts that they have personalized. She wanted to set it up the same way you are
asking about. Let them keep their accounts but not be able to login anytime they
want when she was not around.
She is the computer administrator as are you so that lets her (you) change passwords
of other accounts (your kids)
Login to your admin account go into "user accounts" click on their profile and click
change password..enter a new password your kids won't figure out.
This way when they want to login to their profile you will have to be present to
enter the password for them or they can't login.
They can't change the password either while logged in because to do so they have
to enter the current password in order to create a new 1.
They were mad for a while but they got over it ;)

Hey guys.
I set up all options because they all seemed like a good idea.
Bios password works and I changed their login passwords to.
They are a little upset but it's worth it
Thanks
Jim

I didn't read throegh sgt's post, but make sure their profiles are "limited". They
can still browse, but no installing is allowed.
