WindowsMediaPlayer 11 cannot install

Try to install. Passes Validation. Then a message "Unsupported OS must be WMPlayerCenterEdition
2005 or later"
I already have WMPlayer 10 which is certainly more recent than 2005.
How can I get the install software to recognize that I have WMP10.
Please help
Thanks

It sounds as though you may have downloaded an incorrect version of WMP11. My version
was offered automatically by Windows Update and installed over WMP10 without any
problems. Hope this helps. Cheers. Spexx.

Microsoft says:
"Windows Media Player 11 for Windows XP supports Windows XP Media Center Edition
2005 with KB900325 (Update Rollup 2 for Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005) and
KB925766 (the October 2006 Update Rollup); however, it does not support previous
releases of Windows XP Media Center Edition."
Note the final clause. Is your OS current enough?
