Hi all! My drive icons become a folder icon, and the drive is not opened by double clicking. It launches the open with program list. How do I solve this? 10Q in advance

G'day Abrham
I'm told that this procedure works in most cases.

first do a quick check for a particular file in root of C drive i.e. C:\autorun.inf
. Delete this if it is present.

Next, set the folder settings to default:

Windows Explorer > Tools > Folder Options> View> Reset All Folders. If no result,
then

Start Menu > Run and type this: regsvr32 /i shell32 .
This command re-registers an important DLL file connected with Windows explorer.

Hi Geri 10Q for your fast response. But non of the three methods workout with me. I didn't reboot and see the result yet if the last one (reg shell....) requires so, but it didn't say so. So I left waiting for any other solution.

Changes typically require reboot when dealing with System files.

Windows won't make changes to files that are in use.
