I have Time-Warner cable modem installed on my Windows XP computer. This modem works by electricity. The electrical wire on my cable modem is plugged into my electrical wall socket 24-7. When I send an e-mail to a friend who has dial-up modem, what route does this e-mail take to get to his computer? Thank you. Mike Brown

Your Modem is probably hooked up to a Cable TV coax cable, so your email travels up that cable to your ISP, and your ISP transfers the email through some other wires or maybe fiber optics to your friends ISP, then they send it down the telephone Wires to your friend Computer.

I think it has something to do with your power company. Unplug your router from
the wall socket and see if it still works, that's the ultimate test.

I'm sorry, that was a bit uncalled for. Don't unplug your modem.

Most electronic devices are powered by electricity, amazing stuff!
