Question about 'Get Rid of Irritating Splash Screens'

I have a question about Get Rid of Irritating Splash Screens:

just wondering if anyone knows a way to get rid of the splash screen in Tag&Rename. i use version 3.2. i'm 99% sure that it's just a pause, and that the program loads immediately _after_ the splash screen. i use the program an awful lot, but almost always from the context menu in the explorer view of windows... which means i'm looking at that splash screen a lot, and waiting (yeah, it's just 2 or 3 seconds.. but they add up). i've sifted through the registry and looked in the program folder itself, finding nothing useful. any info would be greatly appreciated. (if it comes down to it, i'll even hex edit the thing)

That was intended to get rid of annoying Windows splash screens, not third party software. You post is off topic, but the answer is obvious: Pay thirty bucks.

"Trial versions of Tag&Rename have limitations: a nag screen and thirty day trial period."

oh, "windows" programs, as opposed to microsoft programs, which is actually what you were addressing. and i suggest you research or stay silent (sic) before a comment like that, because my copy of tag & rename is paid for and registered. i'm just trying to get rid of the splash screen. i found this post through google, and i know how to stay on topic within forums. i'm sorry i stepped on the toes of such arrogant hermits.

Resource Hacker is a useful tool for replacing images buried within executables, so that you create your own custom version of the executable. I have used it to replace irritating images with a blank, transparent image that is never seen. You should see my customized explorer.exe! Hope this helps. Cheers. Spexx.

hi thanks. yeah, i've tried resource hacker actually. nifty program. but instead of changing the splash screen to something else (even invisible), i'd like to get rid of the 'reference' in the executable that makes it display the splash screen (and pause for those useless seconds). by the way, sorry for that harsh response yesterday. i hadn't seen your 'oops' follow-up, and i'd also been drinking a bit and was somehow vaguely entertained by being mean. no need for that, though, 'cause we're all just trying to help each other. so sorry. :) thanks for the feedback.

Hey I know how some things can seem even more irritating after a few beers (or whatever). I hope Jaf didn't take it to heart. Resource Hacker is great for easy little fixes sometimes, but maybe in this particular case you could take hours to root out this splash screen by studying and modifying the code, just to save a few seconds here and there. This, to me, is hell on Earth! A lot of software is designed so that you can only (easily) get rid of the splash screen by buying the full version, or making a donation etc and personally I find splash screens very irritating. If I like a piece of software enough, I will happily make the payment rather than knock myself out - life is too short. Cheers. Spexx.
