Odd error message about missing .dll

Upon boot up of Win XP I get a message informing me that uicfwcey.dll is missing. I tried searching it on the net and found nothing whatsoever even mentioning it. Any ideas on what the hell this is, what it does, and why it might be missing? It doesn't seem to have affected anything that I have noticed yet. It's just annoying. Thanks in advance.

malware.
It's possibly a residual that's being called in the registry. You may be able to
locate the key and delete it. If the malware is active, that won't fix the problem
though..

Aaron,

Are you sure you typed the File Name Exactly? Nothing comes up on google except your
post to Annoyances.org.

The name is typical of malware.

That message at startup means something's (in this case malware) been removed, or
more accurately partially removed.

Check in A/R for anything suspicious, you don't recognize as having installed yourself.
Uninstall it/them, if possible. If unsure, ask first. Clear out all temp folders,
for all users before running the scans. Use CCleaner, if you have it.

Be sure to update this program after installation, then run a scan:
Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware

Panda has a good online virus scanner, but disable System Restore before running
any scans to clear out previous restore points. Re-enable it and create a new restore
point "after" running these scans, so you have something to fall back on.
Panda Active Scan with TruPrevent®

You may need to hit a malware support forum, for further help. Registration is free
as are any apps needed for cleaning. Check the pinned topics before posting. Here's
a couple to choose from, but post on only One forum. Good luck.

Yep, it's got the look of malware. Just curious because of the lack of reference
to the file. Most .dll's, associated with known malware, usually return something
on a google search, like a reference to the source.

This one, nothing. Not even a similar, but different .dll.

Misspelling can poduce this result.

Lack of reference is a sure sign it's malware. It just doesn't tell us which infection
it is.

"Most .dll's, associated with known malware, usually return something on a google
search.."

Not necessarily, since many malwares use randomly named dll files. This has been
going on a long time.

The latest fad in malware seems to use file names that are created by a random character
generator, so that the victim can't look it up with a search engine. These crazy
dll names have been posted here many times in the past several weeks, and those will
never turn up anything useful on Google.

I have a nice collection of randomly named .sys files from rootkit infections I have cleaned up. I have painted this flash drive in bright red for obvious reasons. Cheers. Spexx.

on CCleaner, in order to automatically clean the other users' temp files, you'll have to add them to the custom file list.

Thanks.
