I have pics in My Pictures to send to art gallery but things have changed and I cant get the mail feature pop-up to "send" now from My Pictures.. Doesn't recognize yahoo! as the mail server, so who does it recognize ? I just want to send the pics. Mail client, mail server which is which? Thanks

Since yahoo is web-based email, that feature won't work anymore. you actually have
to go to yahoo mail and attach the pictures. Or you will have to utilize your email
account through your ISP and use either Outlook or Outlook Express to be able to
go back to using that feature.

Yahoo mail is no more web based than any other mail server. All the ones I know
of allow the use of e-mail clients like Outlook, as well as web browsers, and that
includes Yahoo mail.

Most ISPs these days block the usual SMTP port (port 25) so yahoo allows you to use
another one.

FYI, you're post has nothing to do with XP, so it's off topic here. In the future,
please limit your posts to XP related issues.

Anyway, an email client is a program like Outlook Express, that you use to download
your emails to once it's configured to the server. As of several years ago, Yahoo
requires that you have a paid email acct. in order to access with an email program.

However, there's an open source program that'll work with a free Yahoo acct., called
YPops! Just Google for a download.

You must not understand the concept of web-based email server, because you're wrong.
Yahoo and Hotmail, i.e. Windows Live are web based email servers.

You can't use a free Yahoo email acct. with an email client, without a third party
program installed and running... as of several years ago.

My ISP, Verizon, uses port 25, so I don't know where you get your misleading info.

I use Outlook with my Yahoo mail account. It's not a free account.

ISPs allow you to send them mail via port 25 but many of them don't allow traffic
using port 25 to get past them to the rest of the internet. It's an anti-spam thing.
So to use mail servers other than the ISP server you need to use other than port
25.
