The Google Home Page has a Preferences link. You can Put a tick mark in the "Do not
provide query suggestions in the search box" You have to then Click on Save Button.

Turn off Automatic Restart, then you will get the blue screen error (BSOD) that should
give you a clue what is causing the problem.
Right click on My Computer.
Click Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery Settings.
Uncheck box for "Automatically restart".
Alternatively, boot to Safe mode and select "Disable Automatic Restart On System
Failure". This is only available if you have SP2 or SP3 installed.

In relation to the Google history in the text box I'm assuming you're referring to
the autocomplete. You can delete individual entries by highlighting them and pressing
'delete' on the keyboard. Alternatively you can go to Tools>Internet Options>Content
and select autocomplete. From there if you click 'clear forms' it will erase all
pre-entered text. Note that this will not only remove Google history but other sites
too (eg. email addresses).
Cheers,
