Computer crashed. Was able to rescusitate with windows xp. Used to be when I touched the mouse the monitor would come on immediately. Now, it takes 10-15 seconds to "wake up." I'd like to have that original responsiveness. Thanks.

It's not a monitor problem. Settings in XP may be turning the monitor off instead
of just blanking the screen. (it's in the Power properties, and the Screen Saver
properties) Takes longer to come back on then, as it has to warm up, depending
on the type of monitor used (CRT longer vs LCD shorter). Also, make sure you have
updated graphics drivers and that the monitor is properly identified by XP.. You
may need the profile for the monitor to be installed into Windows if Windows doesn't
list the monitor correctly (or says "Generic"). Drivers will be at the respective
system builders website, on CD's that came with the system or the hardware, or at
the respective hardware manufacturers (graphics card and monitor's) websites...
