"Password is not valid"

ref: Windows XP SP3
This has nothing do to with the recovery console.
1. When I boot the computer I can normally log in using my password.
2. If the screensaver kicks in or if the hard disk turns off this is where I'm getting
problems. When I enter my password to log in again it tells me I have the wrong password.
Then, the only way to get back is to shut it down and to log again.
3. Any ideas?
thansk

Try turning off the requirement to enter a password when you logon or return from
your screen saver. Then reboot and turn them back on (if you want them) one at a
time and check to see if there is still a problem.
Select Run from the Start Menu, type control userpasswords2, and click Ok. Turn
off the Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer option, and
click Ok.
On the Screen Saver tab in Desktop Properties, uncheck On Resume, Password Protect.

it and have tried everything, they are saying I need to buy a new license. Any suggestions?

Shirley, this is the Windows XP forum, you should post this in the Windows
Vista forum.
What kind of computer is it? Did it come with Vista on it? If so, the product
key should be on a decal on the computer case somewhere.
