It's all or none. Delete restore points, by turning SR off, then back on. You may
have to reboot in between, I don't recall since I turned off SR 7 years ago.

It is extremely unreliable, and problems are cumulative in it, and it's a waste of
disk space, and simply doesn't cover enough of the potential problems that can happen.
I've always used disk imaging (currently Acronis), others use Erunt which backs up
the registry.
A well designed disk setup, can allow you to recover fairly easily as long as two
hard drives don't die simultaneously. Just earlier this week, I was able to return
my ex's system to normal, despite the fact that her mobo had died, and someone else
had installed a new XP for her... fortunately they selected the correct partition.
Since her system hadn't been backed up in three years, it took some time for me to
bring everything up to date, but what was really important to her that all of her
data was still in tact, it was automatically backed up weekly.

Download and use ERUNT. System Restore is buggy and is basically junk. With erunt you can even delete a restore point.

System Restore isn't the best program in the world but despite what others may have experienced it's kept me going since I first started with ME all those years ago. It's a useful first line of defence which may be all you need to get you out of a mess. Make sure your latest restore point is for a correctly operating computer. Now; Start All programs Accessories System Tools DiskCleanup More Options System Restore You can now delete all but the last restore points.

"Make sure your latest restore point is for a correctly operating computer."
That is the hitch, some problems cascade, the system you thought was okay, may have
some subtle problems, and they can worsen with time.

Hi neilbigh 101,

You said you are interested in deleting just one restore point.

CCleaner: CCleaner Here just came out with
a new version that includes the option of getting rid of just one or as many of your
Restore points as you want too.

I use it and it works as described.

Regards,

Phil
