Get Rid of the My Computer Icon
| Intended For |
Windows XP
Windows 2000
Windows Me
Windows 98
Windows 95 |
|
For completeness, this section has been included to provide instruction on removing only the My Computer icon from the desktop.
This can also be accomplished by Hiding all icons on the desktop.
Half-assed solution: (better than nothing!)
- See Change the Icons of Desktop Items to change the icon of My Computer to a blank icon.
- Then, rename the icon to a single space. Although the icon will still be there, it will be invisible, and therefore accessible if you know where to look.
- Note: See Hide all Icons on the Desktop for more information.
- Note: Don't go looking for a blank icon - it doesn't come with Windows. Just make one yourself using any standard icon editor, such as Microangelo.
